Deadline for PLA Award Applications - December 1

The deadline for submitting all PLA award applications is December 1, 2004. To get application forms, visit www.pla.org, or click on the links below, or contact the PLA office at 800-545-2433, ext. 5752. PLA awards include the following:

Advancement of Literacy Award
Allie Beth Martin Award
Baker & Taylor Entertainment Audio Music/Video Product Award
Charlie Robinson Award
Excellence in Small and/or Rural Public Library Service Award

Spring Symposium - Speaker Update

PLA is still in the process of finalizing speakers for the 2005 Spring Symposium Opening General Session and Author Luncheon, however the Spring Symposium will feature a number of high-profile speakers at the event's workshops. Readers Advisory issue of PL available in January

Every January, a theme issue of "Public Libraries" is published to cover a topic of significance to public librarians. The upcoming, January 2005 issue will focus on a topic of immense interest to public librarians and students: Reader's Advisory Service.

PLA is offering to sell single or multiple copies to any interested parties, such as individual students, faculty, libraries, and librarians. The issue is available at a rate of $10 per issue, or $7 per issue for 5 or more copies.
