ALA Midwinter Meeting 2007, Seattle, WA
Submitted by Mary Louise Daneri, January 21, 2007
A new committee member was welcomed and given a brief overview of the Committee.
Committee members met with the PLA representative, Marcellus Turner, who apprised them of some important dates and topics discussed at the earlier PLA meeting.
The chair of the International Relations Committee stopped by to ask if the committee was once again interested in cosponsoring a future program of theirs, “World in Your Backyard”. Additional information will be sent. The Marketing Committee also has expressed an interest in our committee in cosponsoring one of their programs. Our chair will discuss this further and get information out to the entire committee.
The remainder of the meeting was spent on discussing and finalizing our program slated for Annual in Washington D.C.

ALA Annual Conference 2006, New Orleans, LA
Kathy Mayo - June 25, 2006
Only one of us was able to make it to New Orleans. We've submitted a program proposal for 2007 and are waiting to hear if it's been accepted. I've attended all of the ALA programs on Marketing to Multicultural populations and it looks like our topic (promoting services through the ethnic media and local contacts) will be a useful addition to what is available.

Only the Chair and Steven Hargrove, a new committee member, were present. Should it be approved, Steven agreed to be a panelist. We also discussed the possibility of presenting a program at the 2006 PLA National Conference, entitled, "How to reach new immigrant populations: programs that work."
Oksana Kraus will contact PLA to place Sonia Ramirez-Wohlmuth's Monday program as a e-publication.
This past year the committee has sponsored two publications stemming from our 2004 Annual program. WebJunction approached Kathleen de la Pena McCook and Sonia Ramirez Wohlmuth to post their article, "Equity of Access: Igniting a passion for change," on their June/July newsletter. We have also asked PLA to post it as an e-publication.
