ALA Midwinter 2003

January – June 2003

  1. Evaluate effectiveness of Shy Librarian in reaching and benefiting membership. Collect any available data/reaction. Hughes and Committee
  2. Evaluate first three 2003 issues of PL and report at June meeting in Toronto. Committee
  3. Examine pertinent issues and suggest theme issue for 2005. Editors and Committee.
  4. Notify public library directors of acceptance of manuscripts from staff members as a means of recognition and promotion of writing award. McGrath and Hughes
  5. Investigate feasibility of printing and publishing posters based on last two issues of PL. Hughes
  6. Report to Committee on exact status of PL articles in FirstSearch. When do they become available as full text? Other details.
  7. Read and evaluate committee’s web page on PLA website and suggest ideas for additional materials/links. Committee
  8. Acquire meeting space for committee’s Saturday June 25th meeting from 9:30 to 11:00. Hughes

ALA Midwinter 2002

  1. Committee members will review each issue and review comments in June. Send pressing comments to Hughes/Vaillancourt (cc:Kralisz).
  2. Read each article with next year's writing awards in mind.
  3. Volunteer to peer review articles for Renee and step in where difficult editorial issues need more than one opinion. Renee to ask for this help on a case-by-case basis.
  4. Lynn Lockwood agreed to review our committee website and find useful links as appropriate. All Committee members are encouraged to send information to her or me for inclusion on the site.
