Bylaws and Organization Meeting Highlights

ALA Midwinter Meeting 2005, Boston, MA

Claudia Sumler, Chair

Because no business had been identified for the Bylaws Committee, we did not meet at Midwinter.

ALA Midwinter Conference 2004, San Diego, CA

1/11/04
Darcy Cahill, chair

One month prior to the meeting, the Bylaws Chair sent an e-mail to the PLA leaders requesting that any bylaws and/or organization issues or concerns be brought to our attention for discussion at the ALA Midwinter Meeting. We did not receive any requests, however our committee did meet at Midwinter during the all-committee time slot in order to be available to handle any issues that might have come up in the course of the morning meetings.

We spent a portion of our meeting time getting to know one another. We then discussed the PLA web page, and reviewed the PLA Guide to ensure that all of us were familiar with the bylaws of the organization. I had attended a workshop for the new PLA leaders the preceding evening, where I receieved copies of the PLA Strategic Plan. The Bylaws Committee members were not familiar with this document. We used the remainder of our meeting time to review and discuss the Strategic Plan.

Members present: Darcy Cahill-chair, Linda Fein, Peggy Sullivan
