The President has proposed eliminating virtually all federal library funding and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). This year, like never before, libraries and everyone who loves them must tell their members of Congress to support full federal funding for critical programs like the more than $210 million provided annually for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) programs.

Ways to Help

  1. Invite members of Congress to visit your library so they can see the great work you're doing with support from IMLS. Check out these great tips for organizing a visit from YALSA.
  2. Tell your story. There are many different ways to do so; here are some ideas:
  3. Check out these resources for advocating for youth, young adult, public library, school library and academic library services from ALA Divisions. The Chapter Relations Office also has a page of advocacy resources.

Post about the impact of IMLS funding in your library or state.

Tag @US_IMLS and use #saveIMLS. Example: Thanks to , [insert impact].
