To Represent ALA at International Meetings
These guidelines are designed to aid the ALA Executive Board and other appropriate ALA entities in selecting ALA members to represent ALA at international meetings. The ALA International Relations Committee (IRC) acts in an advisory capacity to the Board in recommending approval for appointment. Normally, representatives must be willing and able to fund their own participation.
ALA Policy 53.7 Intellectual Freedom- Destruction of Libraries:
The American Library Association deplores the destruction of libraries, library collections and property, and the disruption of the educational process by that act, whether it be done by individuals or groups of individuals and whether it be in the name of honest dissent, the desire to control or limit thought or ideas, or for any other purpose.
The American Library Association (ALA) does not conduct evaluations of transcripts or credentials or make recognition decisions. We also cannot serve as a channel of appeal for persons dissatisfied with evaluations.
