University Community Invited to Declare Support for Library Services

The University of NAME Library will unveil the “Declaration for the Right to Libraries” during a signing ceremony on DATE at TIME. The ceremony will take place during the opening event for the NAME of EXHIBIT.

The Declaration is the cornerstone of Libraries Change Lives, an initiative of the American Library Association, designed to build the public will and sustained support for America’s right to libraries of all types – academic, school, public, and special. Signatures are being collected from signing events around the nation and will be presented in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in May 2014.

“More than ever, the Library serves as a leading force in the University’s mission to [INSERT SCALED MISSION STATEMENT]” said President NAME. ”The library is our gateway to the global information and the new instruction models that are most critical to advance research and scholarship. I look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the library’s countless contributions to the success and empowerment of NAME OF UNIVERSITY graduates.”

[INSERT brief paragraph describing your event.] [Sample] Provost Keith Richards and Library Director Diana Nyad will lead a brief presentation about the library and will unveil the library’s Declaration. Also scheduled to present is Pulitzer Prize winner and University alumnus Toni Morrison. Following the presentation, all attendees will be invited to sign the Declaration.

The Declaration will be available for at the Library’s central information desk for signing by University students, faculty, and staff until DATE.
