Describe yourself in three words

Enthusiastic, creative, open.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)?

I am currently reading "Pachinko" by Min Jin Lee, and I find it stunning so far. A couple years ago, I participated in a challenge to read women and writers of color, and since then I haven’t looked back. I’m also reading "Stamped from the Beginning" by Ibram X. Kendi as part of a research practices reading group with my colleagues. I’ve also just started the first of the "Framing Information Literacy" series and will be leading some discussions on the series with my colleagues.

Describe ACRL in three words

Information literacy champions.

What do you value about ACRL?

My work is student-centered, so I value ACRL’s commitment to student learning.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

As the Instruction and Outreach Librarian for our humanities and social sciences library, I strive to create learning experiences that engage students, develop information literacy and critical thinking, and connect students to our resources. We have over 50,000 students so it’s an awesome challenge. With every student that I teach or connect with or who uses a resource that I’ve created, I feel like a partner in their learning and it’s so rewarding.

In your own words

If I could I’d probably put a Leslie Knope gif. To spend each day learning, enabling learning in others, and thinking creatively is a real joy.
