New Writings on the Holocaust, 2001–2011, by Jack Fischel
Writing about the Holocaust has been nonstop since that horrific event occurred in the mid-20th century. The 21st century sees no sign of that abating, especially with the post-Cold War opening of Soviet and other Eastern European archives. This essay surveys the output of writing on the Shoah since the turn of the century, addressing such topics as the ghettoes and the Jewish Councils, Jewish resistance, Palestine, Eichmann and the other perpetrators, and the Vatican and the Holocaust. It concludes by pointing to new directions for future research.
