From Hwaet to Whattup: A Bibliography of the History of English, by Edwin Battistella. Although commentary on the language has existed from the earliest times, modern scholarship finds its shape with eighteenth- and nineteenth-century philologists.  This essay surveys work from that point forward.  The author surveys key scholarly works in lexicography, vocabulary, dialectology, syntax and morphology, and phonology.  Also included are popular resources for language aficionados and teaching resources for the history of the language: handbooks and bibliographies, textbooks, video resources, and corpora and databases.

Forthcoming Performing Arts & Mass Media Titles, 2014–2015. This feature highlights print works scheduled for publication from July 2014 into 2015. The list includes almost 300 titles from 40 publishers, selected for their potential relevance to library collections.
