Charge

The ACRL Library and Information Science (LIS) Education Interest Group serves to promote discussion, programming, and projects that enhance the collaboration between LIS educators and academic librarians. The Library and Information Science (LIS) Education Interest Group serves to promote discussion, programming, and projects that enhance the collaboration between LIS educators and academic librarians. The LIS Education Interest Group will serve as a forum within ACRL for members who are actively involved in LIS education, either as full-time or part-time faculty members, as well as for those with an active interest in promoting the effective alignment of LIS education opportunities with the evolving needs of the academic library workforce. The LIS Education Interest group will play a unique role within ACRL in promoting broad discussion of LIS education and the role played in LIS education by practitioners. It will promote broad-based collaboration in research, practice, and programming among LIS educators and academic librarians, as well as between ACRL and the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE).
