ACRL’s Asian, African and Middle Eastern Studies Interest Group represents librarians and specialists in the field of Asian, African, and Middle Eastern area studies and advises ACRL, in cooperation with other professional groups, in those areas of library service that require knowledge of Asian, African and Middle eastern languages and cultures.

As of August 2017, the AAMESIG had 397 members. Interest Group composition includes a convener and incoming convener.
The Asian, African, and Middle Eastern Studies Interest Group was established by the ACRL Board of Directors at the 2017 Spring Executive Board Meeting. Prior to this, the AAMES IG was the Asian, African, and Middle Eastern Studies Section (AAMES).
Beginning September 1, 2017, you can join the Asian, African, and Middle Eastern Studies Interest Group through your ALA membership record, and participate through the interest group's ALA Connect space and the ACRL listserv.
