Issue Summaries

The following section has summary background information on major policy areas of current interest.This is neither a full list of the areas in which the American Library Association takes action nor a description of the broader Key Action Areas or Priority Areas (Policy 1.3).  In fact, any given issue may impact or be impacted by more than one Key Issue Area or Priority Area – e.g. an issue may related to Equity of Access (Key Action Area), Library Funding (Priority Area, Policy 1.3) and Intellectual Freedom (Key Action Area, Priority Area).   The Key Action Areas, as well as the Priority Areas, are described in policy or in other Council-approved documents.
