AASL Social Media Superstars

AASL is delighted to announce the return of Social Media Superstar Recognitions, which celebrate social media superstars within the school library profession. Such superstars enrich the profession and its work on behalf of students and school communities by sharing information, expertise, ideas, encouragement, dialog and inspiration widely with stakeholders via a variety of social media channels. With your nominations and endorsements of your peers, Social Media Superstars will be celebrated in eight categories:

  • Sensational Student Voice
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to empower student voice.

  • Advocacy Ambassador
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to advocate for strong school libraries for all students.

  • Tech Troubadour
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to share technology expertise of benefit to school libraries and school librarians and their work.

  • Program Pioneer
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to promote exemplary school library programming.

  • Curriculum Champion
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to share exemplary school library curriculum.

  • Leadership Luminary
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to empower leadership among school librarians.

  • Social Justice Defender
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to promote social justice for students and the community.

  • Reader Leader
    Recognizes an individual who effectively uses one or more social media channels to highlight authors and literature and exemplify collection development.

Criteria

Nominees must be current, personal AASL members and are currently working or have worked in the school library field.

Timeline & Process

  • An open call for nominations will be held through March 2, 2018. 

  • Finalists will be selected by the Social Media Recognition Committee and announced March 14.

  • From March 14 through April 8, members of the school library community and the public are invited to post endorsements.

  • Those receiving top recognition will be announced in a special presentation during School Library Month on April 27 and will be recognized during the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.
