Licensed Institutes

AASL offers a series of Licensed Institutes - full-day educational workshops - available for use nationwide. The institutes offer:

  • Flexibility
    The licensee determines the date, time, location, and size of the audience.

  • Convenience
    AASL provides the presenter, travel and lodging for the presenter, and a master copy of the curriculum.

  • Affordability
    The licensee has the option to charge a fee for the event.

  • Opportunity
    Participants receive up to 8 contact hours.

  • Experience
    All presenters are experienced speakers and subject matter experts on their topic.

Empowering 21st Century Learners: P21 Framework & AASL Learning Standards

Get ready to infuse 21st century skills into your curriculum through a special one-day institute developed to help you understand how the AASL Standards for the 21st-Century Learner, and the framework of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) align to make it easier for you to integrate into your school or district's current and future practices.  

AASL School Library Advocacy Institute

This Institute provides information, resources, and strategies that will help define advocacy and facilitate the development of long-term advocacy action plans for school library programs. This Institute will incorporate various tools available to school librarians, including the AASL Advocacy toolkit of online resources, the marketing resources developed through the ALA @ your library campaign, and the resources that will assist school librarians in developing an advocacy action plan that goes beyond PR and marketing.

Collaborative Leadership

This Institute will increase participants' understanding of the components of leadership, help them identify their own leadership skills and professional priorities, and show them how to apply leadership strategies to the challenges faced in today's schools and in the profession.

Reading and the Elementary School Librarian

This Institute addresses critical topics in reading for school librarians who teach Pre-K-6th-grade students. The Institute will increase participants' understanding of current research on reading instruction, discuss how it informs school library programs, explore reading strategies, and explain what school librarians can do to strengthen their role as literacy leaders in their schools.
