This webinar is a Part 2 for those who attended “Twitter 101: Why You Need to Tweet to Build a Personal Learning Network” on August 15 or for everyone who has a Twitter account but wants to take it to the next step. It will include tips on participating in Twitter chats, ways to optimize and get the most out of tweets with visuals, using Twitter as a back channel during conferences, using Twitter lists, third-party tools to enhance Twitter, and ways to use Twitter with students and for library advocacy.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn why Twitter chats are great personal professional learning and networking options and how to participate.
  2. Learn how to enhance conference participation with Twitter as a back channel.

  3. Learn how to leverage the power of Twitter with your students and for library advocacy.

Who Should Attend

School library professionals who attended . “Twitter 101: Why You Need to Tweet to Build a Personal Learning Network” on August 15, 2017, and anyone who has a Twitter account but wants to take better advantage of it for personal learning, with students, or advocacy.


Jane Lofton

Jane Lofton recently retired (June 2016) as the teacher librarian at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, and was selected a 2016 Sandacre Teacher of the Year by the Mira Costa Senior Class. She is a Past President of California School Library Association (CSLA) and Honorary Member, as well as having served in a number of other volunteer positions for CSLA. Currently, she is co-chairing CSLA’s ESSA Task Force. She is also an active AASL member and serving on the AASL 2017 Conference Committee as Social Media Chair, a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, and a frequent presenter at library and tech conferences. She is a passionate lifelong learner, ed tech Geek, and loves sharing inspiration with students, other librarians, and teachers.

Jane is also an enthusiastic blogger (Jane Lofton’s Adventures in School Libraryland, Mira Costa High School Library Blog) and tweeter (@jane_librarian) and has taught several previous online classes on using Twitter.



Attendance during the live webinar is free and open to all. A seat in the webinar is reserved for the first 100 logins.
