Welcome to the Beyond Words web site! Here you will find information compiled to help school libraries prepare for – and recover from – natural disasters, fires, or terrorist acts. You’ll find information for both your school library and your student population, including resources for students to read and use to prepare themselves and their families.
In addition to the resources found on this site, several organizations have joined to provide a series of grants to public schools whose school library program has been affected by a disaster. Grants are to replace or supplement books, media and/or library equipment in the school library setting. You can read more about the grants themselves – including eligibility, guidelines, and frequently asked questions – at www.ala.org/aasl/disasterrelief
