Friends of AASL
Friends of AASL
The Friends of AASL program ensures excellence in service to the profession and supports future growth and viability. Program funds provide additional financial support for AASL programs and initiatives which enhance the association's mission and goals and also reach above and beyond traditional membership services as guided by AASL's strategic plan and Learning4Life.
This year the Friends of AASL program will support initiatives undertaken by AASL to ensure school librarians are included in education legislation. On October 17th, AASL held a congressional briefing in Washington, D.C. to increase awareness of the role and relevance of school librarians in the U.S. Public Education debate and to ensure that school libraries and school librarians are at the table when Congress is making decisions. To view the briefing, or the materials relevant to the briefing and SKILLS Act, visit www.ala.org/aasl/congressionalbriefing.
Of course AASL’s work continues on Capitol Hill as numerous discussions occur on the future of U.S. Public Education with conference calls and meetings with congressional education staffers, legislative alerts and congressional visits. From September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012 your donation to Friend’s of AASL will help defray the costs associated with AASL’s Legislative and Advocacy efforts.

Friends of AASL provides a place for anyone who wishes to support AASL’s efforts to be part of this program.
