Statement of Professional Concerns/Aspirations if Elected:
Six years ago, I became an independent school librarian by taking a leap of faith--leaving an academic library position for a school whose mission and pedagogical philosophy are a strong match to my passions. Since joining this amazing community, I have discovered much: the infectious vivacity of teenagers, the challenge of being a department of one, and the compelling world of YA fiction. As a solo librarian, I find keeping up with professional organizations is vital to my job.
I have served as newsletter editor for BayNet (a CA multi-type library organization), helped plan and served as registrar for the 2011 AISL conference, and currently serve on the Northern Professional Services Committee for CAIS, working to create conference sessions for our upcoming professional day. I am eager to bring my strong observational skills and my enthusiasm for independent school libraries to our great community by serving as ISS Secretary.
