Beyond Words - Grants and Other Funding

If your school library has been affected by a natural disaster, fire, or act of terrorism, you may need financial assistance to recover your collection, furniture, and equipment. Below is a list of some grant programs and other funding sources for which your library may be eligible.

Beyond Words
Dollar General, in collaboration with the American Library Association (ALA), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) and the National Education Association (NEA), is sponsoring a school library disaster relief fund for public school libraries in the states served by Dollar General. The Beyond Words fund will provide grants to public schools  to replace or supplement books, media and/or library equipment in the school library setting.

LBF Gulf Coast School Library Recovery Initiative
The Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries created the Gulf Coast Library Recovery Initiative to provide grants that allow libraries to “buy books for hurricane-affected school libraries in the Gulf Coast region.
