Alabama Library Association
On February 19, 2003, the Executive Council of the Alabama Library Association voted to endorse the USA Patriot Act Resolution and also vote to take the resolution to the April 2 General Business meeting at its annual conference in Mobile.

Alaska Library Association
At its meeting on March 7, the Alaska Library Association endorsed the ALA PATRIOT Act Resolution unanimously.

Arizona Library Association
A proposal to endorse ALA's resolution is on the agenda for the April AzLA Executive Board Meeting.

Arkansas Library Association
At its meeting on April 4, 2003, the Arkansas Library Association endorsed the ALA PATRIOT Act Resolution unanimously.  Its resolution can be found online.

California Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners
The California Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners (CALTAC) endorsed the California Library Association's resolution on Friday Feb 21, 2003.

California Library Association
At its meeting on February 12, 2003, the California Library Association passed its Resolution In Support of User Privacy and Freedom of Information in Libraries.

Colorado Association of Libraries
At their meeting on August 1, 2003, the members of the Executive Board of the Colorado Association of Libraries unanimously voted to endorse the ALA resolution on the USA Patriot Act.

Connecticut Library Association
At its meeting on February 13, 2003, the Connecticut Library Association Executive Board approved a resolution regarding Public Law 107-56, particularly but not limited to Section 215 of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act (USA PATRIOT).

Delaware Library Association
On June 11, 2003, the DLA Executive Board endorses its resolution opposing the USA Patriot Act, which states that the DLA opposes the use of government power to suppress the free and open exchange of ideas and information.

District of Columbia Library Association
On June 17, 2003, the District of Columbia Library Association Executive Board endorsed the ALA Council's "Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users."

Florida Library Association
On April 25, the FLA Executive Board endorsed the ALA statement on the Patriot Act and the parallel resolution implementing same.

Georgia Library Association
At its Executive Board Meeting on February 13, 2003, the Georgia Library Association endorsed the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and passed its Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users.

Hawaii Library Association
The Hawaii Library Association's Executive Board met on Thursday, March 13, 2003, and voted to endorse the ALA's Resolution on the USA Patriot Act.

Idaho Library Association
On Tuesday, April 8, 2003, the Idaho Library Association Executive Board voted to endorse a resolution opposing the USA Patriot Act.

Illinois Library Association
On Monday, April 21, the Illinois Library Association Executive Board voted to endorse ALA's Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users, and voted to endorse its own resoluiton.

Indiana Library Federation
In July 2003, the Indiana Library Federation's Executive Committee endorsed the ALA resolution regarding the USA Patriot Act.

Iowa Library Association
The Iowa Library Association has endorsed the ALA's resolution on the Patriot Act. This unanimous action was taken at the ILA Executive Board meeting on February 28, 2003.

Kansas Library Association
At its meeting on January 31, 2003, the Kansas Library Association endorsed ALA's Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users.

Kentucky Library Association

At its March 22, 2003, Board Meeting, the Kentucky Library Association unanimously endorsed ALA's Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act and Related Measures that Infringe on the Rights of Library Users. The endorsement motion was seconded by a library trustee member of the board.

Louisiana Library Association 

The Louisiana Library Association, at its second general session, held on March 20, 2003, voted to endorse the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act.

Maine Library Association
At its March 14, 2003, meeting, the Executive Board of the Maine Library Association voted to endorse the American Library Association's *Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users.

Maryland Library Association
At the March 18, 2003 Executive Board meeting, The Maryland Library Association voted to endorse the ALA Resolution on the Patriot Act and to send a letter to MD Congressional legislators to inform them of the endorsement.

Massachusetts Library Association
At the April 11, 2003, Executive Board meeting, The Massachusetts Library Association voted to endorse the ALA Resolution on the Patriot Act.

Michigan Library Association
In April 2003, the Michigan Library Association Board voted to endorse  its resolution opposing the USA Patriot Act, in which it supports the actions of the American Library Association as outlined in the American Library Association Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act and Related Measures.

Minnesota Library Association
On February 21, the Minnesota Library Association Board voted to endorse the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users. A letter will be sent to the President, the Attorney General, the Minnesota congressional delegation, and others as appropriate.

Mississippi Library Association
The Mississippi Library Association's Executive Board unanimously endorsed the ALA resolution at its March 28, 2003, meeting along with a document entitled "Mississippi Library Association Intellectual Freedom Committee's Statement Concerning the USA Patriot Act."

Missouri Library Association
The Missouri Library Association's Board of Directors met on Friday, February 28, 2003, and endorsed the USA PATRIOT Act Resolution as approved by the ALA Council.

Montana Library Association
Executive Board voted unanimously in January to write letters to the Montana Congressional delegation urging support of Vermont congressman Bernie Sanders legislation to amend the USA PATRIOT Act.

At its meeting in April, The Montana Library Association voted unanimously to adopt the Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures that Infringe on the Rights of Library Users at is membership meeting at the annual conference.  The membership adopted the resolution unanimously.  The Montana Library Association also voted unanimously to affirm the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures that Infringe on the Rights of Library Users.

Nebraska Library Association
At its March 21, 2003, meeting, the Nebraska Library Association endorsed ALA's resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act.

Nevada Library Association
In February 2003, the Executive Board of the Nevada Library Association hereby endorses the American Library Association Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures that Infringe on the Rights of Library Users.  In November 2003, NLA passed its own resolution .

New Hampshire Library Association
On Tuesday, February 19, 2003, the New Hampshire Library Association executive board voted to endorse ALA's "Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users."

New Jersey Library Association
The NJLA Executive Board endorsed the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act at their meeting on April 15, 2003.

New Mexico Library Association
The Board of the New Mexico Library Association passed a resolution on Jan 31, 2003, endorsing the ALA resolution on the U.S.A. PATRIOT Act.

New York Library Association
At its February 6, 2003, meeting, the New York Library Association Council passed its Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act.

North Carolina Library Association
On Friday, April 25, NCLA adopted a resolution regarding the USA Patriot Act that requests that our representatives and senators support an exemption for libraries and bookstores.

North Dakota Library Association
At the Executive Board meeting on Friday, March 14, the North Dakota Library Association unanimously endorsed the American Library Association's resolution on the PATRIOT Act.  On Friday, September 26, 2003, the NDLA unanimously endorsed its own resolution.

Ohio Library Council
At its meeting on May 2, 2003, the Ohio Library Council Board of Trustees voted unanimously to endorse the American Library Association's "Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users."

Oklahoma Library Association 

The Oklahoma Library Association passed a resolution supporting the ALA "Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users" at its annual membership meeting on March 28, 2003.

Oregon Library Association
The Oregon Library Association's Board passed a resolution opposing the USA PATRIOT Act at their June 13th meeting.   The resolution was written by the OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee in coordination with the OLA Legislative Committee.  Links to a copy of the Resolution and the open letter to Oregon's Congressional Delegation are found below.

Pennsylvania Library Association
On April 7, 2004, the Pennsylvania Library Association passed a resolution calling for Congressional examination of and amendment to any provision of the USA PATRIOT Act that conflicts with the fundamental rights and liberties guaranteed in the United States Constitution.

Pennsylvania School Librarians Association
On Saturday, June 7, 2003, the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association passed an anti-Patriot Act resolution.

Rhode Island Library Association
This links to the pdf of the Rhode Island Library Association Resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act, passed by the Executive Board on March 11, 2003.

South Carolina Library Association
The Executive Board of the South Carolina Library Association unanimously adopted the ALA resolution on the U. S. Patriot Act but replace "American Library Association" with "South Carolina Library Association." This action will be publicized on the South Carolina Library Association website, and letters will be sent to members of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation and the White House (March 14, 2003).

South Dakota Library Association
At the Executive Board meeting of the SD Library Association on March 15, 2003, members voted unanimously to endorse ALA's resolution on the USA PATRIOT Act.

Tennessee Library Association
At its February 2003 meeting, the Tennessee Library Association Board of Directors expressed its support of the American Library Association’s Resolution on the USA Patriot Act (passed by that body’s Council in January 2003).    The Board recommended the adoption of the same resolution by TLA, and the TLA Executive Board subsequently approved the adoption and the request from the Board that President B. Ponnappa send a letter to all members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation indicating TLA’s support/adoption of the ALA resolution.   The full ALA Resolution is given below.

Texas Library Association
At its meeting on February 13, 2003, the Texas Library Association Executive Board endorsed the ALA resolution on the USA Patriot Act.

Utah Library Association
The Utah Library Association's Board of Directors, at its April 4, 2003 meeting, unanimously endorsed ALA CD#20.1;  "Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users".

Vermont Library Association
On October 21, 2002, the Vermont Library Association adopted its USA PATRIOT ACT LETTER A list of signatures can be found at http://www.vermontlibraries.org/names.html.

Virginia Library Association
At its meeting on Friday, February 7, the Virginia Library Association (VLA) voted to endorse the ALA resolution.

Washington Library Association
The Washington library Association passed a unanimous endorsement of the ALA Resolution at the Friday, February 14, Board Meeting.

West Virginia Library Association
On Friday, March 7, 2003, the West Virginia Library Association (WVLA) Executive Board voted to endorse ALA's "Resolution on the USA Patriot Act and Related Measures That Infringe on the Rights of Library Users."

Wisconsin Library Association
On February 21st, the Wisconsin Library Association unanimously voted to endorse the ALA Resolution on the USA Patriot Act.

Wyoming Library Association
On May 21, 2003, the Wyoming Library Association passed a resolution on the USA Patriot Act.  See below under Related Files.
