Dun & Bradstreet Public Librarian Support Award
The Dun & Bradstreet Public Librarian Support Award is an annual award of $1,000 to support the attendance at Annual Conference of a public librarian who has performed outstanding business reference service and who requires financial assistance to attend the ALA Annual Conference. The candidate must be a member of ALA. If not a RUSA/BRASS member, the recipient must join RUSA/BRASS upon being selected to receive the award. The recipient shall have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and the potential to be a leader in the profession. Sponsor: Dun & BradstreetThe jury for choosing an award recipient is a standing committee of BRASS consisting of three to five members (including a chair appointed by the BRASS Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect), at least one of whom is a public librarian. Members serve two-year terms. Consecutive terms are not permitted. Nominees will be reviewed in a closed meeting of the committee during Midwinter.
The criteria guiding the committee include the following: Involvement in special projects, creation of a business Web site, outstanding service to the community, publications, or related activities. Willingness to particpate in BRASS activities at ALA Annual Conference for which the award has been made and write a short statement following the Conference on his or her experience.
